'A Real Life Camp Rock'
"How cool would it be to play in a rock band? You can at DayJams. It is a rock and roll summer camp where you write songs with a band, design a poster, T-shirt and CD cover with your band’s name and perform live onstage. There are DayJams from New York to California. It is for beginners to advanced levels, ages 8 to 15. On your first day, you are assigned to a band and a teacher. You write songs and jam with your band. Next, you head to art class, where you design a poster with your band’s name and emblem. You also have private or small group music instruction or singing lessons. On Friday, you practice most of the day and have a dress rehearsal. Then, during art, the counselors paint your face and tattoo your arms for the show. Your parents arrive to see you perform live onstage. The performance is filmed, and you can order a DVD.
